Simple Guacamole Difficulty: Beginner  |  Prep Time: 7 Minutes  |  Serves 4

Ingredients:
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 wedge of lemon or lime
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp lemon pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Using a butter knife (do not use a sharp knife), slice the avocadoes in half and remove the large pit using a spoon. Keep one pit and set it aside, discard the second. Using the butter knife, gently slice into the green meat of the avocado, creating thin slices the length of the fruit. Turn the avocado and repeat this motion horizontally, creating a grid-like appearance in the green meat. Using a spoon, scoop the green flesh into a medium sized mixing bowl. Repeat with the other three sections of avocado. Using the spoon, quickly and firmly stir the green mixture in the bowl until the flesh is mashed to a consistency you like. Once the green flesh has been mashed fairly well, add a small squeeze of lemon (or lime) juice, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon pepper, salt and pepper and stir well once more. Taste the guacamole and add more salt, spices or lemon as your taste desires. Add the avocado pit that you saved back to the bowl; the pit will help keep the guacamole fresh and even help maintain the green color.
