Accounts Receivable Assistant -South San Francisco

Sales Accounting and Accounts Receivable Assistant (South San Francisco)

We are a premier gourmet supermarket serving the San Francisco Bay Area from four locations. We provide the finest international foods, local produce, wine and kitchen supplies. We also offer cooking and wine classes and operate a highly acclaimed restaurant. We are a family owned company since 1925 with over 380 employees.

Summary: The Sales Accounting and Accounts Receivable Assistant will support the Sales Accounting Manager and the Chief Financial Officer with all administrative duties and corporate initiatives. This individual has frequent interaction with customers, owners and employees, and reports directly to the Sales Accounting Manager and Owners in our South San Francisco office.

Sales Accounting/Accounts Receivable Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a Sales Accounting and Accounts Receivable role.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting a plus.
  • Familiar with Customer service duties over the phone, in person and in writing.
  • Possess sound judgment when planning and accomplishing goals.
  • Must have excellent time management, organization and project skills (especially under critical deadlines). Be accurate, detail-oriented & thorough.
  • Possess a professional demeanor.
  • Be able to work under strict confidentiality.
  • Be flexible in a variety of situations and be a team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills e.g. MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and financial accounting software. Quickbooks a plus!
  • Ability to maintain focus in spite of interruptions.

Sales Accounting/Accounts Receivable Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer and Sales Accounting Manager.
  • Produce departmental sales analysis report and other management reports.
  • Post reconciled daily sales receipts and produce cashier reconciliation reports following up with variances.
  • Assist with monthly billings and sales related GL account reconciliations.
  • Attend to customer inquiries, process credit applications, and invoices for customers and vendor allowances.
  • Process and collect outstanding accounts receivable including, past due, bad debts and bad checks.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures online and in files
  • Processing all manufacture coupons for redemption
  • Researching outstanding past due invoices, credit memos and delegating invoices for approval.
  • Special projects as needed. Projects may vary.

Principal duties for Meat Clerk (including but not limited to the list below):

  • Provide efficient, courteous, and friendly customer service – our most important duty
  • Perform duties related to the display, and selling of beef, pork, lamb, poultry, seafood, sausages, ready-to-cook products, and cured meats
  • Prepare, package, weigh, and price meat products for sale
  • Receive, unload, and put away product deliveries
  • Understand and protect food safety
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitizing food preparation areas, tools, and equipment
  • Ensure all cases and shelves are clean and well-stocked

Principal duties for Experienced Meat Cutter and Apprentice (including but not limited to the list below):

  • You will perform the duties listed above under Meat Clerk
  • Perform duties related to the cutting, and preparation of beef, pork, lamb, poultry, seafood, sausages, ready-to-cook products, and cured meats
  • You will handle freight, organize coolers, operate electric meat saws, grinders, and other meat processing equipment
  • Follow department procedures for preparing, storing, rotating, and stocking of product
  • Train team members on various cuts and preparations of meat
  • Monitor product quality and freshness and ensure proper rotation of product

Required Abilities for all meat positions:

  • You should display an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy
  • You should be able to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • You should be able to take direction and work as a team member
  • You should be able to stand for up to 5 hours and a total of 8 hours per shift
  • You should be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and sometimes more
  • Meat Cutters typically have more than 2 years’ experience, apprentices have less, and meat clerks do not need prior experience. Meat Clerks and apprentices will be trained
  • Ability to communicate effectively with English speaking customers
  • Meat Cutters must have knowledge of meat cuts and different cooking techniques for them

Loss Prevention Officer - MP, LA, SM

Draeger's Supermarkets, Inc. in Menlo Park, Los Altos and San Mateo are seeking full-time Loss Prevention Officers immediately.

This position reports to the L.P Director and the Company Owner.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities (includes the following but not limited to):

  • Conduct store surveillance via CCTV and sales floor
  • Detain shoplifters when necessary
  • Protect company’s assets by conducting internal and external investigations using data analytics (Hawkeye)
  • Identify shrink caused by fraud, theft, operational errors, and policy violations
  • Promote store safety practices and health guidelines throughout the stores
  • Find innovative ways to utilize all resources within policy to solve problems
  • Produce and submit detailed reports supported by facts and evidence in a timely manner
  • Maintain a communication relationship with local law enforcement agencies
  • Conduct daily audits (food safety walkthrough in all sub-departments) and identify source of discrepancy
  • Able to work in our 4 store locations plus Corporate: Menlo Park, Los Altos, San Mateo, Danville, and South San Francisco

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Payroll & Human Resources Coordinator - FT

Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator (South San Francisco)


We are a premier Gourmet Supermarket servicing the San Francisco Bay Area from four locations. We provide the finest international foods, wine and accoutrements. We also offer cooking and wine classes and operate a highly acclaimed restaurant. We are a family-owned company with over 380 employees.

Summary:

The Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator will support the Payroll and Human Resources Manager and Human Resources Director and the with all administrative duties and corporate initiatives. This will be a variety of HR activities and programs involving benefits, staffing, training, payroll and workplace safety. This individual will have frequent interaction with the owners and employees and will report to the Payroll and Human Resources Manager in our South San Francisco office.

Pay Rate: $30-$34/hr (DOE)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in processing the organization's payroll and collect payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Set up and follow up on employee-required training.
  • Set up and maintain employees' personnel files.
  • Data entry and run reports for various departments as required.
  • Set up and follow up employee eligibility for the safety shoe policy.
  • Process uniform orders including reviewing the weekly invoices.
  • On-boarding new hires including paperwork and reporting to EDD, union and managers.
  • Set up calendar reminders and follow up with employees for future benefit programs, required training, and performance reviews.
  • Personnel file maintenance
  • Coordinate all leaves of absences with appropriate communication and correspondence
  • Coordinate Garnishments, Levies, Unemployment, and Subpoenas in Payroll system.
  • Coordinate all Worker’s Compensation claims & Return-to-Work Program
  • Provide paperwork and review results for new employees’ background checks and drug testing and report concerns to management.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews and make actionable recommendations based on data
  • Participate in problem-solving and special projects within the department.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in HR law to continue to maintain compliance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy, with a strategic, resourceful way of solving problems
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

  • Excellent listening skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine correspondence, memos and instructions. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Have excellent project and time management skills (especially under critical deadlines)
  • Knowledge working with timekeeper system and Ceridian program a plus
  • Experience working for a Union supermarket, a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Education and/or Experience                                                  

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred.

The Senior Human Resources Generalist will support the Payroll and Human Resources Manager and Human Resources Director and the with all administrative duties and corporate initiatives. This will be a variety of HR activities and programs involving benefits, staffing, training, payroll and workplace safety. This individual will have frequent interaction with the owners and employees and will report to the Human Resources Director in our South San Francisco office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in processing the organization's payroll and collect payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Process employee status changes, analyze payroll, create on-going weekly, month-end, quarterly, and year-end organization reports.
  • Audit payroll information for accuracy.
  • Reconcile payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, 401(k), and voluntary deductions.
  • Data entry or audit new hire and employee change requests into the HRIS and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Administer leave of absence programs, process applicable paperwork and disability claims, and respond to state EDD and/or the union.
  • Responsible to communicate and report all work-related accidents and injuries to the insurance agency or other required agencies (OSHA) for processing.
  • Participate in various committees focused on projects and initiatives to help develop company safety and policies.
  • Back up for on-boarding and off-boarding employees.
  • Participate in problem-solving and special projects within the department.
  • Conduct safety observation walks and inspections to analyze safety risks.   
  • Suggest recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
  • Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident.
  • Assist employees in handling and processing worker’s compensation claims.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices, and regulations.
  • Conduct workplace investigations; coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in HR law to continue to maintain compliance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
