Culinary Lead Cook - SSF

Draeger's Supermarkets, Inc in South San Francisco is seeking for an experienced full-time Culinary Lead Cook immediately.

Pay range: $26/hr - $40/hr

This position reports to the Plant Superintendant.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (includes the following but not limited to):

  • Manages all day-to-day operations of the kitchen
  • Scheduling for all shifts as it relates to the Kitchen team
  • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.
  • Follows complex recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasonings, cooking of all Deli items serve in Draeger’s Stores.
  • Oversee food preparation for Catering orders and ensures the Kitchen Staff is following company standards, and recipe specifications.
  • Follows proper handling and right temperature of all food products.
  • Ensure full compliance and effectiveness of the HACCP program and regulatory requirements.
  • Understands employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees’ absence or staffing shortages.
  • Develops, designs, or creates new applications, ideas, relationships, systems or products, including artistic contributions.
  • Review food production practices in all areas of the Kitchen for efficiency, quality, nutritional integrity, waste, cost controls, and safety.
  • Develop systems, methods and procedures for consistent operations
  • Recruitment and retention of deli staff
  • Serves as a Trainer in the training of less experienced cooks.
  • Celebrates successes by publicly recognizing the contributions of team members.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have at least 2-3 years culinary leadership experience in food service, hospitality, restaurant, or similar industry.
  • Completion of Culinary School.
  • Expert knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) and Food Safety practices and the ability to identify and correct problems in the operations.
  • Excellent production planning and execution skills for all levels of events and operations.
  • Ability to create a collaborative environment with a cross section of leaders from different departments.
  • Able to use production software to enter pre and post production data
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to work.
  • Able to follow instructions and established procedures.

Inventory Receiver & Driver - SSF

Draeger's Supermarkets, Inc in South San Francisco is seeking a Full-Time (32-40 hours per week) Inventory Receiver & Driver immediately. 

This position reports to the Plant Superintendent and is a non-union position.

Wages: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities (includes the following but not limited to):

  • Loading and unloading several deliveries per day to our local stores.
  • Driving to all four stores to deliver products.
  • Work with kitchen, store managers and Plant Superintendent to fulfill job duties to the best of your ability.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle and workspace.
  • Bobtail truck, no special license required.
  • Receiving inbound products and ingredients
  • Storing and organizing and transfer material per requirements.
  • Cycle counting and inventory control
  • Ability to Drive forklifts and pellet jacks
  • Must be able to use RF scanner, tablets, printers for inventory control.
  • Ability to Drive forklifts and pellet jacks
  • Must be able to work in freezers and coolers

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent driving record.

Maintenance Technician - SSF

The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of Draeger’s business goals and objectives.

Work Setting: In-person at retail grocery stores, production kitchens, warehouses, walk-in coolers.

This position reports to the Plant Superintendant.

This is a full-time, non-union position (40 hours per week).

Pay: $35 to $60 per hour, depending on experience.

Must be able to travel to all store locations: Menlo Park, Los Altos, San Mateo, and Blackhawk (Danville).  Valid CDL required.

Abilities:

  • Flexibility to deal with any unforeseen changes in routine, such as immediate reassignment to another job due to breakdown.
  • Work any assigned shift, reasonable weekly overtime and weekends.
  • Complete all essential job functions relating to physical demands and requirements such as perform occasional very heavy lifting.
  • Complete all essential job functions relating to work environment that includes working in dusty, noisy and varying temperatures ranging from extreme heat (110°+) to very cool (-10°).
  • Adapt to new technology in tools, equipment and processes.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following):

  • Maintain production equipment in proper operating condition.
  • Respond to “floor calls” in a timely manner.
  • Handle all breakdowns in an efficient manner.
  • Coordinate with Store Managers and Maintenance Manager to resolve breakdown issues.

  • Successfully complete “confined space” training and be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Report to Maintenance Director shortage of parts or any special needs.
  • Support plant effort of focusing on, and adhering to, all Personnel and Food Safety, SQF, HACCP, Quality, AIB and GMP regulations and policies.
  • Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels, both union and management.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years direct experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing union environment, preferably food related, required.
  • Able to perform various types of welding: TIG, MIG, arc, gas.
  • Solid understanding of electronics, electrical systems, and mechanical applications.
  • Must have excellent mechanical skills.
  • Must be able to trouble shoot, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems, and piping and plumbing issues on various pieces of production and packaging equipment throughout our plant including utility equipment such as hot water heaters and air compressors.
  • Must show a large amount of initiative and judgment in analyzing, planning and laying out work for the installation of new and used equipment as well as performing maintenance on our plant facility when needed.
  • Must be proficient with hand tools and shop equipment such as drill presses, grinders, pipe threaders, drain pipe cleaning and welding equipment.
  • May be required to work on hydraulic/pneumatic systems, heating and refrigeration systems and control systems.
  • May be required to oversee the work of lower-level rate mechanics as well as working with and directing contractors.
  • Carpentry experience preferred.
  • Refrigeration experience preferred.
  • Electrical experience preferred.
  • 3 years HVAC/R (HVAC and Refrigeration) experience required.
  • Ability to commute/relocate prior to starting work (preferred).

Night Crew Manager - Menlo Park

Draeger's Supermarkets, Inc in Menlo Park is seeking a full-time Night Crew Manager. This position is responsible for stocking and displaying grocery products and invoice reconciliation. This position reports to the Store Director and the Assistant Store Director. This is a leadership position.

Night Crew Manager Duties and Responsibilities (includes the following but not limited to):

  • Stocks rotates, merchandises, and faces products according to department procedures
  • Receives product deliveries, ensures order and invoice accuracy and notes discrepancies
  • Checks to ensure all grocery items are merchandised attractively as per quality standards
  • Maintains and organizes back-stock and warehouse storage areas according to department standards
  • Adheres to all guidelines about product recommendations and information
  • Communicates grocery needs, adjustments, and problems to grocery manager promptly and efficiently
  • Maintains a safe and cleanly work environment in accordance with department, state and federal regulations
  • Performs light cleaning duties such as sweeping, dusting, and packaging disposal as necessary

Night Crew Stocker required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of grocery products, both shelf stable and perishable, and proper rotation skills. Able to work in various environments, wet, cold, etc.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, other team members, and leadership.
  • Able to lift 40-50 pounds.
  • Familiar with the operation of hand trucks, pallet jacks, and walk-behind forklifts.
  • Able to work a variety of shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays. This shift is primarily overnight hours.
  • Examples of shifts available include but are not limited to: 3 am to 11:30 am; 4 am to 12:30 pm; 5 am to 1:30 pm. Flexible schedule is required.
  • Leadership or lead position experience is preferred.

Payroll and Human Resource Coordinator - SSF

We are a premier Gourmet Supermarket servicing the San Francisco Bay Area from four retail locations. We provide the finest international foods, wine and accoutrements. We are a family-owned company with over 380 employees.


Summary:

The Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator will support the Payroll and Human Resources Manager and Human Resources Director and the with all administrative duties and corporate initiatives. This will be a variety of HR activities and programs involving benefits, staffing, training, payroll and workplace safety. This individual will have frequent interaction with the owners and employees and will report to the Payroll and Human Resources Manager in our South San Francisco office. No remote work.

Pay rate: $28/hour – $34/hour DOE.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in processing the organization's payroll and collect payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Set up and follow up on employee-required training.
  • Set up and maintain employees' personnel files.
  • Data entry and run reports for various departments as required.
  • Set up and follow up employee eligibility for the safety shoe policy.
  • Process uniform orders including reviewing the weekly invoices.
  • On-boarding new hires including paperwork and reporting to EDD, union and managers.
  • Set up calendar reminders and follow up with employees for future benefit programs, required training, and performance reviews.
  • Personnel file maintenance
  • Coordinate all leaves of absences with appropriate communication and correspondence
  • Coordinate Garnishments, Levies, Unemployment, and Subpoenas in Payroll system.
  • Coordinate all Worker’s Compensation claims & Return-to-Work Program
  • Provide paperwork and review results for new employees’ background checks and drug testing and report concerns to management.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews and make actionable recommendations based on data
  • Participate in problem-solving and special projects within the department.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in HR law to continue to maintain compliance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
