The
Finest Foods and Wines
Draeger's Grocery department features the one of the largest selections
of packaged specialty foods, as well as a complete selection of everyday
pantry needs, with over 50,000 items in stock. Foods are imported from
all over the world, and every major region, from the Pacific Rim to Europe
is represented.
The Wine department, headed by Kevin Forsaith, Wine Director, includes over 2,500 labels, many of which are old and rare, all maintained in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. Wine tastings, wine dinners and special educational seminars are offered.
The
Produce department features the largest selection of fresh produce
in California, with over 500 varieties available everyday. Special care
is taken to cull and trim the produce so that the customer gets only the
best and has no waste.
The Meat Department specializes in aged Midwestern Beef and the Fish department offers live lobsters and crabs as well as tanks filled with live trout. Also available here is finest fresh caviar flown in from the Caspian Sea, as well as a Sushi Bar.
The
Delicatessen offers a plethora of salads and entrees prepared daily
in Draeger's own kitchens from traditional family recipes. In the Charcuterie
there are over 250 varieties of cheese including American farmstead cheeses
and unique hand-crafted varieties imported directly from Europe.
With
a professional staff of pastry chefs, decorators and bakers, the Bakery
prepares from scratch hundreds of varieties of cakes, pastries, desserts
and breads equal to those found in the finest European bakeries. Also
available is a full service flower department.
Top
of the Market -- Draeger's Menlo Park and San Mateo Stores both have
a second level "Top of the Market" shopping area which features our HOME
department offering a peerless selection of the world's finest cookware
and bakeware, including All-Clad, Le Creuset and Kaiser La Forme. Also
available are table top accessories from Rosenthal, and Vietri, unique
gifts, party goods and stationery. You will find more than 5,000 cookbooks
- the largest selection on the West Coast. The product selection is overseen
by Draeger's renown specialty buyers, who travel around the world in
search
of the finestand most unusual products.
Draeger's Housewares Bridal & Gift Registry - Draeger's offers extensive registry services with a unique collection of china, linens, glassware, flatware, and home accessories. There is also a superb collection of cookware and cook's tools for the novice or professional chef.
Draeger's Cooking School is practically an institution itself. Headed by Cooking School Director Kathleen Taggart and a very talented staff, we offer year-round classes taught by world-renowned chefs. New classes are offered every 3-4 months. An illustrious catalog is available in all our stores, as well as an Internet version so viewers can sign up online.
Viognier
(vee-oh-nyay) is the premier California restaurant located in Draeger's
new Market Place
in San Mateo. Viognier has rocketed to the top of
the
international food scene with praise coming from leading food critics
and publications such as Gourmet Magazine, Bon Appetit, Town and Country,
Esquire, the Wine Spectator and The New York Times.
Viognier
Restaurant is named for the grape varietal originating from the Northern
Rhone region of France. Chef Preston Dishman offers a seasonal menu built on classical French and modern techniques. The result is a menu that highlights the best of each season, featuring local California produce. Chef Dishman’s
menu is complemented by a selection of 700 bottles encompassing California,
domestic and European wines compiled by our Sommelier. Viognier has received the prestegious Wine
Spectator Award of Excellence from 2002 to 2008.
